Marius Hammer, a Norwegian jewelry designer, was a pioneer in the development of enameled jewelry. This necklace from the Arts & Crafts era (ca1910) is a stunning example of his artistry! The silver pendant forms the shape of a Maltese cross with rounded edges, and has beautiful light green enameled detail. Three enameled bars dangle freely from the base, and swirls of spiraled wirework rest within the central pendant. A silver chain is attached to the top of the piece, which fastens securely with a barrel catch. The back of the piece is marked with Marius Hammer's signature "M" hallmark and the stamp "930S". An unusual and stylish piece, it would make a unique addition to any collection!
Measurements: The pendant measures 1 3/4" at the longest point and 3/4" at the widest point. The chain is 16.5" long.
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is in excellent condition. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the silver setting or enameled detail. The chain and clasp are secure and in good working condition. The silver has a natural patina on the surface, which is normal for vintage silver pieces.
